The Brest Atlantiques race set off on November 5th, 2019. The 4 skippers in the running left from Brest (France) across the Atlantic Ocean towards Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and then Cape Town (Robben Island – South Africa).
This 14,000-mile race could lead skippers through icy waters between Rio and Cap Town.
Contacted by the race organizers, CLS teams monitor the presence of icebergs in the roaring forties using satellite radar image imagery and a drift model to recommend the safest route to race organizers and skippers.
