Women in AI: CLS, a Partner for a More Diverse Data Science

At CLS, one of our core missions is to unleash the power of data to serve a sustainable planet. The role of women in artificial intelligence (AI) is crucial to expanding the capabilities of the DataTerre we process daily. This is why we proudly support initiatives that encourage more women to pursue careers in AI.

Marie Atché, a data scientist at CLS, is a graduate of ENSEEIHT in digital sciences, specializing in data science and big data. A rising star in her field, she is now an expert in Deep Learning and Computer Vision, contributing to CLS’s sustainable fisheries management and environmental monitoring efforts.

AI meeting at ANITIRecently, Marie was invited by Marjorie Allain-Moulet, head of the diversity commission at ANITI (Toulouse’s Interdisciplinary Institute of Artificial Intelligence), to mentor young female talents. For the past three years, Marie has guided students, helping them discover the potential of AI and take their first steps in this fast-growing sector.

Marie passionately believes that:
“AI needs diverse perspectives. Women, along with other diverse profiles, bring fresh ideas and essential methods to our work.”

Marie hopes her experience will inspire a new generation of women to join this field, and we encourage all who are interested in promoting diversity to participate in similar initiatives.

At CLS, the DataLab is a cross-functional innovation hub where data scientists, developers, and big data engineers collaborate. Its mission is to develop large-scale data transformation software and generate knowledge from raw data. By leveraging AI algorithms such as Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL), the DataLab provides innovative solutions to complex problems and explores cutting-edge techniques.

With its diverse skillset, the DataLab plays a key role in CLS’s innovation ecosystem.

France’s AI hubs are part of a national initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s position in artificial intelligence. Toulouse has been selected as one of the leading cities for AI development.

Technological innovation thrives on diversity—diverse talents and perspectives. By encouraging more women to enter the AI field, we are creating a richer, more inclusive, and forward-thinking data science, ready to tackle tomorrow’s challenges. The future of artificial intelligence is undeniably plural.
